Medial interaction and the 3D analysis of Jan Vermeers "The Glass of Wine"

Annual exhibition at the HfbK Hamburg July 2004

Using the original textures from Vermeers image I transformed it into a three-dimensional environment and captured a 360° tracking shot, which is looped and in this way infinite.

One of the most important foci of my research lies on the possible relationships between the aspects of planes, space and time. I examine these relationships by using different media. Recurring themes of my researches are, among others:

The possibility of painting in the area of digital images.
The relationship of painting and digital movies.

Thus, I developed, on the one hand, some kind of "picturesque movie" and, on the other hand, a form of "cineastic painting".

For the digital "picturesque short-movie" I used a painting of the famous artist Jan Vermeer as a model. By transferring the traditional painting into the medium of movies, I managed to expand Vermeers interieur-painting into the digital space and to modify the spectator's viewpoint in a fundamental way.
